On balancing Scrap

The bread and butter and blood.

UNRELIABLE SOURCES.

THE BURROWS. Many ruins are picked clean, with whatever Scrap remaining just off the beaten path. The untouched burrows are either closed off or deadly. Or both.

Roll a D4 if Ruin is scrapped, a D6 if abandoned, or a D8 if Dimmed. Consult Ruins for building each structure.

LIVING DROIDS. Pay scavengers to share news, find tools and solve problems. Some even trade Body Parts.

DEAD DROIDS. Known as mechanophagy, considered tabboo by some. Phaged Scrap is banned in many settlements unless through natural entropy. Out of sight, out of mind. Can you tell the difference?

Roll D4 if defeated by physical damage. Otherwise, roll a D6.

THE DIMMED. Sparkless horrors from the Burrows. Bigger machines, they wield more Scrap than Droids, without the moral dillema. If you can take it from them.

THE USUAL EXPENSES.

TRAVEL. The harsh rock claims its offerings. Beaten paths take a Scrap. Harder or further places take two or more.

FIXING. Hard to do by yourself. In a full respite with at least one other Droid, each Scrap spent raises the tier of a Condition Dice or heal a point of Attribute. Don't scavenge alone.

BARTER. Recruit hirelings, buy information, pay the toll for entry. One Scrap may not be enough, but two is far too much.

GET BETTER. Spend Scrap to make upgrades.

BODYSHOP. Not all places will have enough riches for one. A Body Part on display will cost 2 Scrap per Condition Dice Tier, and +1 for each Mod point. A custom request is doubled, if even available.

FIGHT ENTROPY. A ritualistic process. Settlements synch in big maintenances in two to three waves of Fixing Days. Great for ambushing.

At the start of each session, spend a Scrap or lower one Condition Dice Tier. Scavenging is hard work.
